Michchhami Dukkadam

Jain Religion has gifted an excellent purification process to the world.
On the fnal day of Paryushan- Samvatsari, we say 'Michchhami Dukkadam' which is derived from Sanskrit phrase Mithyami Dushkrutyam.
This simply means that if we have hurt someone physically, mentally or emotionally, with or without intentions, we seek forgiveness from them and before that we forgive them ourselves.

There is a great depth in these 2 words.
Just calling people and saying those 2 words is extremely simple and its in vogue.
We just sit down and open our phone book and call every single number.
Thats fine.
However, lets stop for a while and ask have we forgiven the nearest ones ?
Have we sought forgivenness from the nearest ones ?
Find the honest answer.
While its not very difficult to say SORRY verbally, its extremely hard to mean SORRY.
We will always think in our heart "it was not my fault or I was right or people do not understand me or he/she started the quarrel and so on".

Lets leave aside everything and purify our hearts. Truly admit your faults and you will find that you feel so light !

  3. Hurting or Healing ?
If anyone has to choose, it will be obviously the Healing ! But what actually happens is the first one !!

So, lets try something and decide:
"Just for a day or two, I will not hurt anyone".

Reward for you: And thereafter watch for a wonderful feeling.
If you get that feeling, continue to follow.
If not, give it an extension of two more days :)
